Composite Insight (CI)

Our service Composite Insight is designed by Volumetric Insight co-founder Jochem Ajendouz, to provide exploiters of fibre reinforced plastic assets with in depth insight into the overall state of their FRP assets. By performing both a visual inspection and a specialised phased array ultrasonic method we can offer you an objective cross-section of the state of your FRP assets.

What does it do?

Our methodology combines phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) with a self-learning computing programme, statistics and custom engineered tools to solve the many problems that NDT-technicians face, during the practice of performing NDT-inspections on FRP. We can currently detect damage to the corrosion barrier, delaminating laminates, a decrease in wall thickness and in follow-up scans we can detect disintegration of the material itself.

How does CI help your maintenance processes?

Because our method can effectively detect damage to the corrosion barrier, your company will be able to perform targeted maintenance, to avoid irreparable damage to your FRP assets. Another big advantage we offer our clients is that our method is performed in-service. Composite Insight will cost-effectively provide you with a detailed and objective overview of the defects that are present in your FRP assets without interrupting production processes. This overview can help your company optimise its maintenance programmes for the FRP assets and extend asset lifespan.

Where to from here?

From the start we will implement a self-learning AI for automatization and continuous improvement of our own calculation model. Because we can combine our own analysis model with an AI, we expect to give predictions about the remaining asset-lifespan and we intend to conduct further research and development to even estimate the remaining percentage of your asset’s design strength.
